BlackBerry PlayBook available for a quick hands-on. The announcement came during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where a slew of tablets are being unveiled. This lot includes the much-hyped Motorola Xoom, a tablet to be sold by Verizon Wireless, which will use a version of Google's Android operating system designed with tablets in mind

The PlayBook is RIM's upcoming rival to tablets such as the iPad and the Samsung Galaxy Tab. It has a 7-inch touchscreen, the 9.7-inch PlayBook was in the works, but has been vague on details about price and availability.

It felt sturdy and robust, but not too heavy. It's slim too, and we reckon it'll fit in a pocket, or certainly a satchel or handbag without too much complaint. There's a mini-HDMI port to output video to your TV, and both rear- and front-facing cameras (5 and 3 megapixels respectively).

With Wi-Fi and Flash support too, the PlayBook is looking mighty promising. Our trusty American cousins at CNET.com have been informed that the PlayBook will come in 16, 32 and 64GB versions, will be released in the first quarter of 2011 and will be priced "competitively", to mean that it'll cost about the same as the iPad.

Honda Motor Co. Japan concept cater dog friendly car, termed as the WOW. The W.O.W. Concept, which stands for "wonderful openhearted wagon”. Honda designer Katsuhito Nakamura said “This vehicle created from the view point of a dog, but it turned out to be a gentler vehicle for the elderly, children and other family members,”.

The W.O.W. has three rows of thin designer seats mounted on a wooden floor. Six people can ride in style or the two second-row seats can transform into a flexible dog cover. Honda has also built another (small) dog storage bin into the left side of the dashboard. The W.O.W comes with removable, washable, rollout flooring and has wide sliding doors to keep dogs happy.

An innovative canine brain receiver (CBR) allows dogs to pilot the W.O.W. by looking in the direction they want to drive. A brain-wave transponder reads the image the dog sees and transposes it over satellite imagery to plot a course using GPS signals. Honda provided no engine details, but should the W.O.W. make it into production, it would likely have a 1.5-liter four. Slightly smaller than a Civic, the 157-inch W.O.W. has front and rear sliding doors on either side and a pair of big commercial-style doors at the back.

The Takayanagi Miluira Retro EV is a throwback to the 1920s. The 770-pound Japanese one-seater, with a top speed of 37 miles per hour, is meant to be a city car. The lead acid batteries will give it a range of about 22 miles. With a price tag of $75,000 and 'retro' batteries, the Miluira will most likely appeal most to collectors.

Acer's revealed it's new series "Aspire Ethos Notebooks" i.e. 18.4-inch 8943G sports a 1920 x 1080 resolution and a true 5.1 surround sound setup. Processor options range all the way up to the quad-core Core i7-820QM, which offers 8MB of built-in cache and a 1.73GHz clock speed that cranks all the way to 3.06GHz when required. Awesome! :)

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 graphics and up to 1.28TB of storage (2x 640GB). The 5943G is a scaled down version, offering as it does 1366 x 768 resolution across a 15.6-inch display, a 2.1 internal speakers, and a merely adequate 640GB storage maximum. Sony today launched its first "Vaio M Series Netbook". This Vaio M Series gets Intel Atom N450 1.66GHz processor, a 10.1 inch LED display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, a 5400RPM 250GB hard drive and 1GB of RAM.

The highlighted features of this Vaio M Series will be bringing high quality graphics, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR connectivity, WiFi 802.11b/g/n connectivity, three USB 2.0 ports, a pair of built in stereo speakers and running on Windows 7 Starter Edition. The device weighs just about 1.3kg which is contributed by its 6-cell battery, there is no webcam but a Motion Eye camera embedded in the screen bezel for video chatting. It's available in black & white colors for a price of $450 approximate.

The much rumored Nokia C5 Mobile phone is finally out in the market, the new addition of C-series to Nokia’s portfolio. They are calling it a smartphone optimized for social networking and sharing. In our words it means a low cost e-series and Symbian for the masses. At just 135 EUR or Rs.8500 you get the power of a Symbian S60 3rd edition smartphone in your hands.

The phone comes with Nokia Messaging and lets you chat using Google Talk or Windows Live Messenger. Also with Facebook support built into the Phonebook.

But obvious 2010 will be a year of gadgets and we start with fast USB 3.0 storage. Set to hit shelves sometime in January, A-DATA's N002 Combo Flash Drive sports both SATA II and a USB 3.0 connection. Razer introduces the Naga Gaming Mouse gadget which was designed specially for MMO games. The Razer Gaming Mouse is designed to enhance your ability to control your character with 17 MMO optimized buttons so you can programmed different game commands to each button. Aside from the keypad, the Naga looks like a wired version of the Razer Mamba from earlier this year. Like the Mamba, the Naga has all of the speeds and feeds common to high-end gaming mice, including a 5,600 dpi laser sensor and 1,000MHz polling rate. You won't really need those high-precision settings to master the assisted targeting and timed-attack mechanics in a MMO, but it's hard to find a gaming mouse these days without such crazy settings, so you might as well have them.

Razer also boasts in-game configuration add-ons for World of Warcraft and Warhammer Online for the Naga, which will hopefully simplify mapping the various key commands.

Naga is reasonably comfortable and intuitive to use we can see how it might appeal to other gamers, digital media artists, or users of any other hot key-heavy software. Razer lists the Naga for $79.99 on its Web site and says it will be available online "soon".
