Microsoft Sold 2.5 Million Kinects in First 25 Days

Recently, Microsoft wrote on their website about Kinects sales. Microsoft sold 2.5 million Kinect sensors in a convenient 25 days.

We all know that this big sales figures achieved due to "Black Friday Sales" from last weekend. Sony's been mum on Move numbers since it announced 1 million units shipped about a month ago. Microsoft says it's on pace to sell 5 million Kinect units through this holiday, which could be a magical thing: what sort of 3D video extravaganza could we pull off with 5 million Kinects in tandem? Read more details at Microsoft Sales PR Section.

Xbox 360 Sale Increased 88% in June

Xbox 360 has increased their sales 88% in June month. This Microsoft's product won the title of best-selling console in June because of it's sexy physical redesign. NPD numbers showed that Microsoft shifted 451,700 units in the US, which is more than the Wii's tally of 422,500 and cover-up the PS3's 304,800 numbers.

As Sony US sales were said to have tripled in the immediate aftermath of the new SKU's release so Microsoft might have a little bit of catching up to do yet, but let's not forget that the king of all hardware sales remains the DS, which somehow managed to sell more than half a million devices in June, in spite of the whole world and its dog already owning one.

Microsoft Kin One and Kin Two Up for pre-order - 1st Shipping on 13 May?

As Microsoft's always said about its Kin phones that they would come to Verizon in May and Vodafone in the fall, and now it looks like an internal Verizon email has spilled the details (Engadget shown publically).

Kin One and Kin Two will go up for pre-order on May 6th, and they will launch to all channels on May 13th," according to the screen-shots. We can't confirm it yet, but hope to see soon. I'm very excited about it, are you?

Office 2010 beta open publicly

Microsoft Office 2010 BetaAfter launching of Windows 7, now Microsoft is unleashing another beta product for testing i.e. Microsoft Office 2010. The Office 2010 beta will feature everything minus the online version, which is currently being tested within Microsoft.

Somewhat surprising for a public beta, the Office 2010 beta offers everything in the office suite so it has Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook and all those other programs most people don’t know how to use like OneNote, Access and Publisher. Office 2010 apps still feature the “ribbon” UI found in Office 2007, but it has been changed somewhat. In terms of entirely new features, Outlook will be able to be linked to social networking sites. Wow! That’s awesome feature. First offered is Windows Live (obviously) and LinkedIn will be added sometime early next year. There is also the aforementioned online version, which will be paired with the new SkyDrive feature to give users 25 GB to store and sync their office documents.

Office 2010 is said to have improved interaction with Windows 7 and its taskbar, which makes sense. That doesn’t mean other users can’t download the beta, it’s free for anyone using Windows XP SP3 and later. With the forthcoming Starter edition which is said to be free for new computers, maybe Microsoft will be able to increase usage of the newest version of Office. Outside of a work environment, or after buying a new PC, users seem to not upgrade their office suite very often. For example, the .docx file format still hasn’t really achieved full support from users, with some just ending up confused.

The nano USB receiver when not in use can be kept in a space at the rear end of the mouse relieving you from losing it. Running on AA battery that lasts 10 months, the mouse epitomizes the ergonomic design hence being very useful for the techies. It has an operating range of 30 feet thus broadening your reach to the Laptop. With a rubber made grippy surface on the sides and a smoother one at the top, this light weighted mouse is convenient to operate. With all these features to their latest Laptop mouse, Microsoft stands on their standard of fabricating worthy gadgets. It also boasts of On/Off switch to conserve energy by switching off this mouse when you don’t need it. This wonderful gizmo comes with a 3 year warranty. But you have to wait for the pricing details.

Microsoft Office 2010 - Features & Details

office 2010The next version of Office moved a step closer to reality on Monday as Microsoft released an invitation-only technical preview of Office 2010. Also, it won't show off the program's biggest change--the addition of browser-based versions of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and OneNote. Those so-called Office Web Applications are being demonstrated on Monday, but the technical preview of the Web apps won't come until later this year. For consumers, Microsoft plans to make the browser-based versions a free part of Windows Live next year, but hasn't decided whether they will include advertising.

The applications, which run in Safari, Firefox, and Internet Explorer, are aimed at both expanding the number of Office users within businesses as well as holding the ground threatened by Google Docs and other Web-based productivity programs. On the desktop side, Microsoft plans a broader beta of the software later this year, with a final release in the first half of 2010. Word gets a collection of cool image effects that stem from the DaVinci Imaging Engine that was part of Microsoft's now-discontinued Digital Image Suite product. Word, as well as the other programs, gets a new "paste preview" tool that lets users hover over different paste options and see what their paste will look like before accepting that selection. Excel gets a new feature called Spark lines, which are tiny graphs that can fit in a single cell of a spreadsheet. PowerPoint picks up video editing features as well as the ability to create a video of one's presentation, including voice annotations. The Outlook e-mail and calendar program adds a conversation view feature, a la Gmail.

Microsoft's feature goes further though, offering an "ignore thread" option which keeps a user from having to see a message string they are no longer interested in being a part of. It also has a "Mail Tips" feature that offers etiquette and security alerts before doing things as replying to a large group or sending a document outside the firewall. Microsoft has yet to announce pricing for any of the products.

Microsoft's 2009 Upcoming Winmobiles

Microsoft's marketing vice resident announced that for Windows Mobile there'll be a "major announcement" out of his camp at Mobile World Congress next month, which makes sense -- it's the biggest mobile trade show of the year, after all, and we've been expecting WinMo 6.5 for a little while. Most interesting thing is that they're looking to cut down on the total number of phones offered by its licensees in an effort to "be more focused" & do a better job tailoring the platform to the devices in the market.

Makes sense in a way, but on the flipside, one of Windows Mobile's solid advantages over the competition has always been its endless selection of styles & form factors. Taking that away means that WinMo's got to be better by leaps and bounds to keep going head-to-head with the Palms, Apples, RIMs, and Nokias of the world.

Improvements & new features in Microsoft Windows Vista SP2

It hasn't been too awfully long since Windows Vista SP1 hit the intertubes for real, but the Vista team is already talking up SP2. We all know Redmond is focused on moving beyond all of this Vista hoopla and forging ahead with Windows 7, but there's apparently still some work to do on the outfit's current OS.

Windows vista SP2 snapshotUnfortunately, the latest update isn't exactly enthralling, as we're given no set time frame for launch and we're not shown any forthcoming changes that really get our juices flowing. For instance, Vista SP2 will add Windows Search 4.0 for faster and improved relevancy in searches, the Bluetooth 2.1 Feature Pack, ability to natively record data on Blu-ray media and Windows Connect Now (WCN) to simplify WiFi configuration. Waiting for your comments please........
